Ya know, this really draws attention to how much more sexualized Amy has been than any previous reboot companion. Not inherently a bad thing, but when I think about it in the context Moffat’s general treatment of women I can’t help but cringe a little.
Also, Martha is looking dapper as fuck.
^Word. And it doesn’t help reading reviews of the show by males applauding that with Amy, the companion has gone back to being T and A for the hetero male viewers (female/LGBT viewers? who cares about them?). One of the worst offenders on this—Andrew Billen of The Times whining about the Russell Davies-written “Partners in Crime”:
“[RTD has] forgotten that Doctor Who’s main task is to send children scuttling behind sofas while entertaining their fathers with the odd philosophical idea, the occasional classical reference, a joke or two they would probably not wish to explain and a wee bit of space totty”.
Yep—that’s all the companion is, “space totty”. And note the use of ‘fathers’. Mothers apparently don’t watch Doctor Who.
I’m glad that someone’s commented on this. I didn’t have the spoons to.
can i say nine looks fab in rose’s clothes too?
